This most exquisit rug was made after a painting of the world famous persian painter and artist Ostad (Master) Mahmoud Farshchian. Before specific information about this luxury piece of art, please read, what the international world of islamic art has to say about Mr. Farshchian:

Mr. Mahmoud Farshchian

Your extraordinary virtuosity conjures up so many moods, forms, and legends known from classical Persian painting. Your mastery of brush and pigment, as well as your intense devotion to a vital tradition, rewards those wrho travel through the world of your miniatures and drawings. For a foreigner such as myself, who has been addicted to Persian painting for most of his life (a slightly longer one than yours), it is exciting to recognize many motifs and characterizations. The spirits of Sultan Muhammad, Mirza 'Ali, Reza 'Abbasi and of many, many other "old friends" are re-animated in your pictures. As a citizen of the world-as well as of Persia-, however, you also reveal appreciation of other master artists, from Europe as well as China and beyond. I sense, for instance, that like me you admire the astonishing imagination of Gustave Dore, a wizard whose dashing lines and flickering images would have brought smiles to Sultan Muhammad himself."...

Opening an art book of Mahmoud Farshchian is like leaping into the heart of a magical realm. A happy blend of the real and imaginary at once sets the tone for everything, thanks to an alchemy whose secret formula he seems to be one of the few to possess. People, nature, animals and objects are present; we recognize them for what they are, but at the same time we begin to see them differently. We do not see them in a dream, but touch them with a different way of looking. This is what makes Mahmoud Farshchian unique and exceptional. That is how it is. This is another stroke of the master's skill.

Federico Mayor Director General of UNESCO

On account of their extraordinary draftsmanship, their wide coloristic range and innate sense of the decorative aspect, the drawings and painting of Mr. Mahmoud Farshchian are in the true tradition of the great Iranian painters."

Dr. Richard Ettinghausen,
Director The Department of Islamic Art,
The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, NY 1969-1979

"I am always amazed at the beautiful draftsmanship and the skill displayed in the paintings by Farshchian. "

Dr. Harold P. Stern,
Director Smithsonian Institute,
Freer Gallery of Art,
Washington, DC
1971-1977

"It is a pleasure to show the imaginative creations of Mr Farshchian, who surely, must be considered among the most talented contemporary artists"

Daniel M. MacMaster,
President Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, IL

About this pictural rug:

One day in spring, a family of deer was in the forest. All the sudden, a hunter crossed their way.  As he was to shoot the mother deer, in her despair she called the holy Imam Reza, who was said to be able to speak the languages of all animals. If the hunter had shot the mother, both babies would have to die since they still needed their mothers milk. The mother deer asked Imam Reza: "Holy Imam, could you be my toughe? Please ask the hunter to let me live until my children are old enough to look after themself. In fall my children are old enough, then I will come to the hunter to give my live."

The Imam told the hunter, what the mother asked him for. The hunter agreed and let the family go.

Month later the children had grown and went their own way. It was time to keep the promise. The deer mother went to the hunters house and stood in front of the door to receive the deadly arrow. The hunter, surpraised that the deer kept it`s promise, hurried to grab his bow and arrow to shot her. As they stood there and looked at each other, eye to eye, the hunters heart began to beat faster, impressed of the deers honor and braveness. After a while, he lowered his weapon and let this brave mother go her way.
